Day 1
Morning Exploration & Breakfast
Coffee and stroll
The charm of San Miguel de Allende really is in the cobbled streets, beautiful buildings, boutique shops and quaint eateries.
In light of this, we’d recommend starting your first morning in San Miguel de Allende early with a coffee and a walk around the iconic Jardín Allende. Setting out early, before the crowds descend, is definitely advisable to soak in the lovely atmosphere!

Enjoy and get lost among the beauty of the town’s main square, lined with historical buildings and colourful facades, with the incredible Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel in the background.
Cumpanio Breakfast
Once you’ve explored the quiet streets a little, head to Cumpanio for breakfast. Although there’s often a queue, the wait is worth it for their delicious pastries and well-loved menu.
Try and grab a seat by the window for the ultimate people watching spot!
Aldama Road Picture Spot
After you’ve had your breakfast, continue to wander the charming inner streets, making sure to walk down Aldama Road for a breathtaking view of the back of the Parroquia, one of the most photographed streets in San Miguel!
Lunch with a View
After a morning of strolling, take a break for lunch at one of the many cafes close to the main square.
El Pegaso has a great rooftop area and serves classic Mexican food. Try the Chiles en Nogada!
Lavanda Café is a fab choice for great sandwiches.
Café Rama is set in a cool art gallery and serves both local and international food.
Afternoon of Galleries & Shopping
Spend your afternoon browsing the city’s endless selection of shops selling artisan clothing, handmade souvenirs, and local artwork.
Once you’ve shopped ’til you’ve (almost) dropped, head to Fábrica La Aurora.
San Miguel is a hub for galleries, so if you’re an art lover, you’ll love Fábrica La Aurora, a beautifully converted textile factory now home to various contemporary art galleries.
This is within walking distance of the centre, so super easy to include in your day.
Evening Drinks & Dinner
Rooftop drinks
Before dinner, treat yourself to a drink at a rooftop bar.
Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar at the Rosewood Hotel offers unbeatable panoramic views of the city, or try Quince for chic vibes and great cocktails.
Dinner at Los Milagros
For dinner, head to Los Milagros, known for its lively atmosphere and traditional dishes.
Be sure to try their signature Molcajetes which are served in a sizzling bowl made of volcanic stone!
They often have live music which just adds a huge element of fun!
We shared the Aztec Molcajetes between 2, which was MORE than enough.
Meals here also include a portion of tortilla chips and salsa before your meal comes out – but be careful not to fill up on them, we mean it when we say the Molcajetes portions are enormous.
If you cant finish your Molcajetes, get the rest of the food to go and make some yummy sandwiches for the next day!
Day 2
Morning Coffee and Parroquia
Coffee and pastry at Panio
Start your second day with a quick coffee and croissant at Panio, a local bakery known for its delicious French-inspired pastries.
Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel
After breakfast, head to the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel to explore the interior of this iconic church. The stunning Gothic Revival architecture is just as impressive inside as it’s outside, with its intricate details and peaceful ambiance.
Wine Tasting & Tour
After your cultural stop, it’s time for a day of wine tasting. San Miguel de Allende is home to several beautiful vineyards that offer both tours and tastings.
One of the best options is Viñedos San Lucas, located just outside the city. They offer guided vineyard tours, wine tastings, and even the chance to try some olive oil and lavender products grown on the estate.
Another great choice is Bodega Dos Buhos, a boutique winery known for its organic wines and charming atmosphere.
Both are great opportunities to immerse yourself in the region’s wine culture.
Explore More or Relax
After your afternoon spent wine tasting, head back to the city to either continue your exploration or do some last-minute shopping for artisanal goods.
You can revisit your favourite galleries or shops for a final round of souvenirs, artwork, or clothing.
